I love the mood you set with the lighting which definitely pulls her out and how you used the shadows and light source to your advantage; It makes the piece holistic. The hands are stunning and show gesture really well, but maybe more weight and detail could have been added to her staff so it doesn't fall too far back into the image, but more into her palm (Like foreground, midground, background kind of deal if you were aiming to push the staff outwards more). It's a very strong pose and the painterly effect you've given to it by showing the brush strokes definitely adds drama if you think the lighting didn't. Your piece has great composition, and is well balanced without being too symmetrical with help from the contrast in your lights and your darks. The simplicity yet boldness of the background doesn't pull away from your main subject either. Overall, it's really stunning and eye-catching. Great work!
Your color technique is beautiful and just wow I can't think of anything truly wrong with it. The colors are gorgeous and vivid and work fantastically together. However, the magenta on her right arm and the dirty yellow under her chest is also a bit... Unfitting (?) with the overall color scheme. If you added those colors in other places, then they would fit better. The lighting looks amazing at first - but now... Okay so where is it coming from? The underside of the face and the eyebrows and her right hand are highlighted, but then, the palm of her left hand and the bright blue of the stomach are also highlighted. Pick one to be consistent and truthful in your work. Is the light coming from the underside, as shown in the face shadows? Then the underside of her left arm would be light and the palm of her left hand would be dark. Her expression is perfect and just wow fantastic pose.
oh my gosh this is so beautiful. redglares color scheme is so vivid, and the way you added lighting to make the red on her outfit even brighter is just amazing. and i agree hands are tough to draw, i usually leave them out of my pictures haha but they look great!
thank you so much! <3 haha I have a love/hate thing with redglare's color scheme actually! (more of love really) also yeah hands are really tough to draw with all the foreshortening, I was very tempted to leave out the hands but I said to myself it would defeat the purpose of me practicing
